The silleteros are the farmers who keep alive the centuries-old tradition of flower cultivation. They personify the figure of the muleteers who settled in the Antioquian mountains on muleback to give birth to the Paisa culture.
The main event that celebrates Medellín’s cultural identity is the Silletero Parade, which takes place every August 7, when the silleteros exhibit their best floral arrangements before thousands of spectators. The Tour de Flores is the opportunity to meet the silleteros directly and share with them, at any time of the year.
